2026 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon to be held on 6 December
MACAU, September 25 - Organized by the Sports Bureau, Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG), and the General Association of Athletics of Macau (AGAM), the 2026 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon will take place on 6 December (Sunday). The Organizing Committee held a press conference today (25 September) to announce the details and registration arrangements for the event. Attending guests included Ms. Leong Wai Man, President of the Sports Bureau; Mr. Philip Cheng, Director of GEG; and Mr. Ng Iok Tong, Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of AGAM; among others.
A signature sporting event in constant development
Ms. Leong Wai Man, President of the Sports Bureau, stated that the Macao International Marathon has grown alongside the city and flourished together with the local sports industry. It has not only borne witness to the passion and perseverance of countless runners, but has also become an important window for showcasing Macao's urban character and its appeal as a cultural tourism destination. It stands as a signature event in Macao's efforts to promote diversified development of sports. With the solid collaborative foundation and extensive experience of the three organizers, as well as the full support of all sectors of society, she is confident that this year's event will be further upgraded through more professional race management and enhanced support services, attracting long-distance running enthusiasts from near and far to compete in Macao. It will fully leverage the synergistic effects of a major sporting event to drive the integrated development of the cultural, sports and tourism sectors, supporting the continued advancement of Macao's adequate economic diversification.
Mr. Philip Cheng, Director of GEG, said that, GEG is honored to have supported the “Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon” for 23 consecutive years and to serve as one of the event’s organizers for the fourth consecutive year, working alongside the community to promote one of Macau's most iconic sporting events. As the event celebrates its 45th edition this year, GEG will continue to collaborate with the organizers and stakeholders to enrich Macau’s “Tourism + Sports” offering through the event and a series of related activities. Through the “GEG Sports for Good Community Program”, GEG also seeks to foster greater community participation in sports. Now in its sixth year, the “GEG Run with a Partner Training Program” has helped raise public awareness of the potential and determination of athletes with special needs, while promoting sports inclusion and contributing to the development of sports in Macau.
Mr. Ng Iok Tong, Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of AGAM, stated that the Macao International Marathon is a much-anticipated annual event among runners from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. As fitness for all has become a prevailing trend nowadays, the number of long-distance runners in Macao has been constantly increasing. The professional team formed by the Association has been enhancing the racecourses and services, and upgrading the smart competition experience based on international standards, all in an effort to present a quality sporting event that is both physically challenging and visually stimulating for runners.
Registration to start on 3 and 4 October
Places available for the Macao International Marathon this year include 2,000 for the marathon, 5,000 for the half marathon and 5,000 for the mini marathon. The start point will be located at the Olympic Sports Centre Stadium, with the marathon and half marathon races starting at 6 a.m. and the mini marathon race starting at 6:20 a.m. The marathon and half-marathon courses will pass by the Governor Nobre de Carvalho Bridge and the World Heritage attraction A-Ma Temple and run along the Sai Van Bridge.
The event this year will once again open for registration on two separate dates, with the marathon and the half-marathon starting 9 a.m. on 3 October (Saturday) and the mini marathon starting 9 a.m. on 4 October (Sunday). Anyone interested can register through the event’s website at www.macaomarathon.com or the “Macao Marathon” mobile application. Places are limited for each category and registration will be closed when all places are filled.
All would-be participants are required to have an online personal account for the “Macao International Marathon” or “Macao International 10K”, and those without such an account can create a new one immediately. Upon successfully opening an account, participants can log in to the system for online registration during the registration period. Participants with an existing account should prepare their personal information for registration, including an electronic copy of their identification document and their AGAM membership card for the current year (if applicable). Participants who have already opened their personal account online but have forgotten their username and password can reset their password. MPay, BOC Mobile Banking Macau, Visa, MasterCard, UnionPay Online Pay, UnionPay cards, Alipay China and WeChat Pay China are accepted for registration fee payment.
Participants may collect their number bib, timing chip and the notes to participants on M/F of Broadway Macau™ between 2 and 5 December by presenting their registration receipt and identification document.
Rich array of elements to elevate the event’s festive atmosphere
To further immerse participants, residents and tourists in the festive atmosphere of the event, a series of ancillary activities will once again be held this year, including the “2026 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon Carnival”. The popular “Most Creative Costume Award” will also make a comeback this year. Participants of the 2026 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon may take a photo with their creative costumes worn during the race, upload the photo and fill in the information required via the “Macao Marathon” mobile application to join this competition.
