China Sees “Glimmer of Hope” for Peace in Mideast
Foreign Minister Wang Yi highlighted the rapidly evolving situation in the region, noting that signals from the US and Iran indicate a potential willingness for talks, offering a "glimmer of hope for peace," during a discussion with his Egyptian counterpart.
Continuing the hostilities, Wang warned, would only result in additional casualties, avoidable losses, and wider regional spillover.
"The international community should actively promote dialogue among the conflicting parties; as long as talks continue, there is hope for peace," Wang said.
He also affirmed China’s support for Egypt’s ongoing mediation efforts aimed at restarting peace negotiations and ending the conflict, adding that Beijing is ready to continue contributing constructively in these efforts.
Egyptian officials voiced concern over the situation, particularly regarding threats to energy and power infrastructure that could spark broader regional instability, according to statements released by the Foreign Ministry.
