China Announces USD15.8B Airbus Deal

(MENAFN) China announced a multibillion-dollar aircraft procurement agreement with Airbus on Wednesday, state media reported, in a deal that underscores the enduring commercial ties between Beijing and Europe's aerospace giant.

China Eastern Airlines signed the agreement with the European manufacturer, covering the purchase of 101 A320NEO series aircraft at a total value of approximately $15.8 billion, according to a Beijing-based news agency.

The aircraft are slated for delivery in phased batches between 2028 and 2032, the airliner confirmed.

The blockbuster deal signals China's continued commitment to expanding its commercial aviation fleet through European suppliers, even as geopolitical tensions between Beijing and Washington keep American rival Boeing largely sidelined in the Chinese market.
